Historical references and marine context for understanding LOCT's research foundations.
Product context
LOCT's research context includes mineral accretion and marine infrastructure. The historical source lineage includes Wolf Hilbertz and Thomas Goreau. Published mineral-deposition work is distinct from validation of LOCT's own integration, structural configuration, energy balance or ecological results. Its physical concept retains an underlying load-bearing structure rather than treating deposited material as an automatically certified replacement.
Using these references
Start with the original patent and research references to understand the lineage of mineral-accretion concepts. Then examine marine conditions and biological evidence separately. A demonstrated deposition mechanism does not settle the durability of a particular structure, the power needed at a particular site or the response of an ecosystem. The marine-context collection connects these questions to OceanGrid's public data references and to the broader environmental questions in the Trash Island mission.
Evidence boundaries
References describe published work, not instructions for marine electrical installation. Ecological effects depend on conditions and have mixed evidence. LOCT-specific performance and environmental benefits require their own documented tests and permissions.
Marine biodiversity occurrence data and dataset attribution. A recorded occurrence is an observation, not an exhaustive survey or proof of absence elsewhere.
